Live Ball

Welcome to Live Ball!
Why is it called “live ball,” anyway? That’s because there are 2 types of tennis training, “dead ball” and “live ball.” Dead ball training is a drill in which the coach feeds you a ball, you hit the prescribed shot, and then nothing happens—the “point” is “dead” after you hit, similar to using a ball machine alone. This form of training is great for technical development. Live ball training is real-time point play, initiated by a coach or player feeding or serving the ball. The point is then played out with specific tactical goals in mind. This type of training is great for developing court awareness, positioning and targeting to successfully finish points in match play. You will play hundreds of points in a single 90-minute session, maximizing skills and tactics retention while amping up your cardio endurance!

Serve, Return, & Return Ball Machine

The two most important shots in competitive tennis are the serve and the return. In this clinic, with the help of the ball machine, you will develop vital skills to help you master both. For the serve, coaches will help you progress with tactical placement, spins and speeds. You’ll also work on serve return techniques and targeting, returning both ball machine serves and live serves.

Red Zone

Red Zone is all about volleys! You’ll master defensive volleys from the service line, closing in for that satisfying put-away, and everything in between. We’ll also devote time to the ever-important and gratifying overhead smash. This class will help you develop sound tactics and technique, so you’ll be prepared for any point situation you encounter at the net.

Serve, Return, & Transition to the Net

The two most important shots in competitive tennis are the serve and the return. In this clinic, you will develop vital skills to help you master both. For the serve, coaches will help you progress with tactical placement, spins and speeds. We’ll also cover the serve-and-volley. For the return, you will practice specific targeting, setting up the point with the next two shots, and finishing at the net in a balanced, controlled way.

Ball Machine

This program allows you to hit hundreds of balls, developing your technique and targeting for all shots, as well as building up your cardio stamina. Since coaches do not have to worry about feeding the balls, they are able to concentrate 100% on watching your technique and offering constructive feedback you can implement instantly as you hit against the ball machine!
